MRF - motion match using After Effects (test)
This week, I did a matchmove compositing test using After Effects on a shot from my recent short film. Although the render needs a lot more refinements to look realistic, it was a good practice to get familiar with the matchmove tracking and compositing techniques in After Effects.
The first step after importing the footage was to do a 3D camera track on the footage.

Next, the background of the video is removed with the rotobrush.

After adding a placeholder background, a solid ad 3D camera is created

Finally, some 2D elements (scorch marks and rubbles) are added to the frame and move in cohesion with the camera.
